Asian lines are a type of Handicap bet that add another layer to betting, offering different strategies and outcomes.

A handicap means that one team is given a virtual advantage or disadvantage (represented by a number of goals, points, or sets) before the match begins, for the purpose of the bet.

Types of Asian Handicap

There are a variety of Asian Handicaps available under the Asian Lines Market for most fixtures.

These are:

  • Whole Line - The virtual lead is represented as plus (+) or minus (-) a whole number.

  • Half Line - The virtual lead is represented with plus (+) or minus (-) a half number, for example 0.5, 1.5.

  • Quarter or Split Line - Is a combination of both whole and half lines.

When you select one of the above Asian Handicap lines, a virtual advantage or disadvantage is created for either Team A or Team B and a hypothetical + or minus - score is added to your selection.

Whole Line Asian Handicap

Whole Line handicap bets can be identified by the + or - against a whole number.

For example, the final score in the RB Leipzig v Liverpool match is 0-2 and your selection was Liverpool -1.0, the final settlement score is 0-1.

Good to know

If a match ends in a draw after a Whole Line handicap is applied, your bet is void and your stake is returned; therefore, eliminating the tie!

Half Line Asian Handicap

Half Line Asian Handicaps eliminate the draw outcome after the handicap is applied.

For example, Roma are given a +1.5 virtual lead over Celtic and the match ends 2-1 to Celtic. When adding the +1.5 to Roma’s score the final settlement is 2-2.5, making Roma the winning selection.

Split Line Asian Handicap

Split Line Asian Handicaps and Quarter Line Asian Handicaps, split your stake between a Whole Line and a Half Line Asian Handicap.

For example, if you placed a handicap of Nottingham Forest -0.5,-1.0:

  • If Nottingham Forest win by 2 or more, your bet would be settled as a winner.

  • If Nottingham Forest win by exactly 1, half of your stake is settled at the price you took when you placed the bet. The other half is refunded to you.

  • If Nottingham Forest Draw or lose by any score, your bet would be settled as a loser.

In-Play betting

When betting In-Play on Asian Handicaps, any goals scored before you place your bet don't count for settlement purposes. This means that the current match score is effectively reset to 0-0.

Good to know

In-Play Asian Handicaps, resets the current match score to 0-0 when you make your bet, with the odds and available lines reflecting this.

You can view our Sports Rules here.

As an example, if you bet on Team B with an Asian Handicap of +1.5 goals when they are losing 2-0, this gives Team B a virtual 1.5 goal lead.

If Team A scores again to make the score 3-0, your bet effectively sees it as 1-0 to Team A, but with your +1.5 advantage for Team B, the score becomes 1-1.5, meaning your bet wins.

If Team B scores, making the score 2-1, your bet is now seen as 0-1 in favour of Team B. With the +1.5 advantage, the adjusted score becomes 0-2.5, which results in a win for your bet.
